ESEA Season 34: Week 1 - Open Team of the Week

June 20, 2020
Article written by: John "JAYEL"

While Week 1 isn't completely finished over at ESEA, we wanted to start releasing some of our Team of the Week articles. Open is a tough division to judge for a number of reasons, but it's especially tough to judge at this point in the season. With over six hundred teams registered, it's almost impossible to tell who are the best teams and players (besides the obvious professional-filled rosters that are beginning their climb to their fitting divisions).

With that being said, we did our best to give praise to who we thought were the best players from Week 1 in the Open division of ESEA. We hope you let us know if we missed any ballers, and we hope to improve our research and analysis as the weeks move forward.

The players we picked were stand-outs in their matches for this week. In the future, we hope to bring some of these teams together in All-Star rosters at the end of the season and mid-season time points. We hope you enjoy, and congratulations to the players who were chosen in our first ever Team of the Week!

Team of the Week for ESEA Open (Week 1)

💎 Blitz1230 from SmOoTh BrAiNs

💎 iDk^ft1 from Yeah Gaming br

💎 curveball from Big Thangs 3

💎 WuLphie from Just Better v2

💎 fGswaG from Realist Esports

💎 Blitz1230 from SmOoTh BrAiNs

Blitz1230 highlights our Team of the Week selection for Week 1 in Open. This man ran wild, going for 50 kills in only 40 rounds played in SmOoTh BrAiNs' first two matches. Furthermore, he had a 140.33 ADR, 1.25 FPR, and a 25.55 RWS (which was 10 more than any other player on his team).

Blitz put both his name and his team's name on the map in Week 1. It will be interesting to see if this team and player can keep the momentum in Open this season.

💎 iDk^ft1 from Yeah Gaming br

Seeing a player from Yeah Gaming br in our Open Team of the Week selection should not come as a surprise for many. Yeah Gaming's leader powered up for their first two matches, leading the team with 45 kills in only 36 rounds played. Detailing a 126.69 ADR, 1.25 FPR, and a 22.19 RWS; all of these stats topped this team's leaderboard for Week 1. Get used to seeing Yeah Gaming br rotate players on the Open Team of the Week articles for the rest of the season. This team is going to be blasting competition.

💎 curveball from Big Thangs 3

Shout-out to curveball, I love this name. This dude went off in Week 1: 54 kills in 39 rounds played, 137.38 ADR, 1.38 FPR, 24.62 RWS, and 1 ace in two games. Big Thangs 3 is only throwing a curveball right now, but they have a fastball waiting on the bench--are they waiting to bring that 1-2 punch later on in the season? The solo curveball seems to be doing a good enough job for now.

💎 WuLphie from Just Better v2

WuLphie ended Week 1 with 58 kills in 43 rounds played, detailing a 134.91 ADR, 1.35 FPR, and 22.28 RWS. This guy's return to Open is starting with a BANG. This is another example of a team getting put on the map by a highlight player. Keep your eyes out for WuLphie and Just Better v2.

💎 fGswaG from Realist Esports

fGswaG swagged in the club with 63 kills! Over 46 rounds played, fGswaG balled with 133.04 ADR, 1.37 FPR, and a 18.35 RWS. Week 1 was this guy's first time playing in an ESEA league--impressive to say the least. Congratulations on making the Team of the Week in your first week of league play.

Congratulations to the five players who were selected for our first-ever Team of the Week! Please let us know if we missed anyone that played exceptionally well this week, and we'll try to keep an eye out for them during the season! Understand that it is difficult to keep track of all the things happening in Open, as there are so many teams, but we should have a narrower list of things as the season progresses.

Cheers!
